The SPCO shares a new concert video including Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony and pianist Stewart Goodyear

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s summer on-demand concert release series continues with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony and the return of guest artist Stewart Goodyear on Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

Proclaimed “a phenomenon” by the Los Angeles Times and “one of the best pianists of his generation” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Stewart Goodyear is an accomplished concert pianist, improviser and composer who stunned SPCO audiences last April in his return to the Ordway Concert Hall. From his seat at the piano, Goodyear led SPCO musicians in Ludwig van Beethoven’s third piano concerto. Paired alongside the stoic concerto in this on-demand release, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony highlights the dynamic virtuosity of the SPCO as an unconducted ensemble.

“The SPCO musicians were supremely simpatico collaborators, the woodwinds finding the shadows lurking in the opening movement, the strings making a dark meditation of the ensuing Largo.”
