The SPCO adds Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings concert video for free streaming

Our summer on-demand release series continues with Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, featuring music by George Frideric Handel, Chevalier de Saint-Georges and Valerie Coleman.

Handel’s woodwind-heavy Concerto Grosso in B-flat offers a rich backdrop for Chevalier de Saint-Georges’ charming, energetic Symphony No. 2, which doubled as an overture to one of his operas.

Woodwinds make a comeback in Coleman’s Umoja, contrasted by the symphonic nature of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, bringing the program to a thrilling conclusion.
