Beneficiary Designations
Beneficiary designations of any size or percentage may be made from a variety of accounts or plans, such as:
- IRA or retirement plans
- Bank or brokerage accounts
- Life insurance policies
- Commercial annuities
Designating the SPCO as a beneficiary is an easy and flexible way to make a legacy gift: simply contact your plan or account administrator and submit an updated beneficiary form to make a legacy gift today.
You can designate the SPCO as the primary beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount. You can also make us the contingent beneficiary so that we will receive the balance of your plan or account only in the event that your primary beneficiary doesn’t survive you.
Please contact Erin VanBurkleo at 651.292.3275 or [email protected] with any questions or to let us know that you’ve designated the SPCO as a beneficiary.

Have you made the SPCO a beneficiary of your IRA? Also consider an IRA Charitable Rollover contribution to the SPCO Annual Fund
Another way to support the SPCO during your lifetime is with a gift of unneeded retirement assets from your IRA.
The IRA Charitable Rollover law allows individuals 70½ or older to give up to $100,000 in a calendar year directly from their IRA to one or more qualified charities without paying federal income tax on the withdrawal. Donors who wish to make a gift to the SPCO may choose to make a qualified charitable distribution from their IRA. Before initiating a gift, contact your tax professional to determine how the IRA Charitable Rollover may apply to your particular situation. To initiate a gift, contact your IRA plan administrator to request a direct distribution to the SPCO.
