Dr. Arthur W. Kaemmer, 1943–2024

Art served on the Board for many decades beginning in 1978. Over that time, he served on various committees and was a reliable and treasured source of wisdom and common sense. In the late 1990s Art Co-Chaired the SPCO’s first endowment campaign and helped lead it to a successful conclusion, surpassing the original ambitious goal. The success of this campaign is an important reason why the SPCO enjoys a strong endowment today. At the time of his passing Art was serving on the Cabinet of the All 4 ONE Campaign for the Arts Partnership. He was a strong and articulate advocate for the Partnership. When asked to help with any task or project, Art’s default answer was “yes”. He believed that Board members were there to help in any way that they could. It was a simple creed that he consistently honored. Art was always generous, always passionate about the music, and deeply committed to the well-being of musicians, staff and the organization that he loved so dearly. We will greatly miss this wonderful man and great friend of the SPCO.
