Announcing three free video concerts in May 2020

This month, we look forward to continue broadcasting free digital concerts to provide relief and further connection to our audiences in the midst of Minnesota’s stay-at-home order. SPCO musicians Kyu-Young Kim, Daria Adams, and Matt Wilson will build their own programs using music from our Concert Library, each touching on different themes.

With special introductions to each piece and at-home performances from other members of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, we look forward to sharing these deeply personal and enriching digital concert experiences.

Bridging the Distance
Hosted and curated by Kyu-Young Kim

Saturday, May 16 at 8 p.m. CDT (UTC-5)

Principal Violinist Kyu-Young Kim’s selection uniquely speaks to our quickly changing concept of “home.” Including a touch of contemporary classical, it doesn’t shy away from the strange, emotional roller coaster of our current times.

Coping through Music
Hosted and curated by Daria Adams

Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m. CDT (UTC-5)

How can music help us remain connected during this period of isolation? This program will explore the various ways that music helps us manage our feelings and allow them to breathe. Violinist Daria Adams will also look at how composers used their writing to brave some of life’s biggest challenges.

A Musical Three-Course Meal
Hosted and Curated by Matt Wilson

Saturday, May 30 at 8 p.m. CDT (UTC-5)

Feed your ears and soul with a balanced three-course musical meal curated by horn player Matt Wilson, featuring works by Brahms and Rossini.
