Counting down to 2015 and our first Ordway Concert Hall rehearsal

Concert Hall stage construction, Dec. 19, 2014

It’s hard to believe it, but our next rehearsal will take place on this stage.

After years of study, planning, fundraising and construction by the Arts Partnership, the new Ordway Concert Hall is nearly complete. This will be the first time in our history that the majority of our concerts will be performed in a venue that’s designed for chamber orchestra acoustics.

January and February will be a “hall tuning” period in which most of our rehearsals will take place on the new stage. During that time, lead acoustician Paul Scarborough will listen from locations all over the hall, then make refinements to ensure everything sounds great for the grand opening concerts in March.

In the meantime, we’ll celebrate the Ordway’s 30th anniversary and bid farewell to the Ordway Music Theater with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on Valentine’s Day. Once the new hall opens, we’ll celebrate all four Arts Partnership organizations during a three week Rock the Ordway celebration in March.
