WHERE WORDS END

In May 2017, the SPCO presents a festival led by Artistic Partner Pekka Kuusisto titled Where Words End, inspired by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius quote, “For me, music begins where words end.” The festival brings together artists of various disciplines and backgrounds to join the SPCO in exploring themes of immigration and cultural identity through the lens of Nordic music and heritage that is so deeply woven into the cultural fabric of our community. Full orchestra performances at the SPCO’s new home at the Ordway Concert Hall in downtown Saint Paul, as well as in three other venues throughout the metro area, will span two weeks and three separate programs, and feature several premieres over the 8 concerts.
