Bryan Akipa — Member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, Army veteran, elementary teacher, and visual and performing artist. He is an award-winning traditional Native American red cedar flute player.

Gwen Westerman — Writer, artist, teacher. An enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota Oyate, and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She is the co-author of Mni Sota Makoce: The Land of the Dakota which won a 2013 Minnesota Book Award and a 2014 Hognander Minnesota History Award.
