Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos

Continuing our annual holiday tradition, the SPCO presents Bach’s most cherished set of orchestral works, the Brandenburg Concertos. The profound inventiveness and instrumental virtuosity of these enduring Baroque masterpieces are on full display as led by our own SPCO musicians and soloists.

Handel’s Messiah

Celebrate the holidays with one of classical music’s most beloved traditions and join the SPCO for our extremely popular annual performances of Handel’s Messiah. Jory Vinikour and the SPCO will be joined by an all-star roster of vocal soloists, including returning countertenor Reginald Mobley and renowned vocal ensemble The Singers in what is sure to be a wonderful musical experience for the whole family this holiday season.

Sphinx Virtuosi: For Justice and Peace

Copresented by the Arts Partnership (The Ordway, Minnesota Opera, The Schubert Club and the SPCO)

A chamber ensemble comprised of the nation’s top Black and Latinx classical string soloists, the Sphinx Virtuosi returns to Saint Paul for the fourth time performing music that show how justice and peace find their way into music without regard to time and place. Repertoire to be selected from music by Philip Herbert, John Williams, Michael Abels, Franz Schubert, Béla Bartók, Romero Aldemaro, and more.

Mozart’s Requiem at the Cathedral with the St. Olaf Choir

Artistic Partner Richard Egarr and the world-renowned St. Olaf Choir join the SPCO for a very special performance of Mozart’s Requiem at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Shrouded in mystery and controversy, Requiem is one of Mozart’s most famous works. Unfinished at the time of his death, the piece was finished shortly after by Franz Süssmayr, who worked as a copyist for Mozart near the time of his death. The St. Olaf Choir will share its incomparable artistry with the audience on additional choral works to be announced.
