Introducing the Concert Library: free video and audio streaming of SPCO concerts
Today, we’re excited to expand on our efforts to make our performances as accessible as possible for our community by launching our new digital Concert Library. Building on the popularity of the audio Listening Library, we’ve created a new service featuring live and on-demand HD video concerts, as well as higher fidelity on-demand audio from our longtime partner Classical MPR.
In addition to the content in the library now, we’re preparing for our first ever live concert video stream, this Saturday, June 10 at 8pm CDT. The program will include Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, conducted by Artistic Partner Thomas Zehetmair, and the world premiere of a new violin concerto by Pierre Jalbert, performed by concertmaster Steven Copes.
We believe our Concert Library is a new and powerful means to deliver compelling concerts to our community. While we can never fully replicate the power of being in the concert hall, we believe these HD videos will be the next best thing.
The Concert Library will be provided free of charge and continues our historic commitment to making our performances widely accessible. Now anyone with internet access can experience transformational SPCO concerts anytime, anywhere, for free.
Among other content in the library, you’ll find HD video of recent performances by pianist Jeremy Denk and SPCO violinist Maureen Nelson, as well as orchestral works including Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony in F.
