In 2011, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) formed a unique strategic partnership that works toward the shared goals of serving the community and building classical music audiences.
In addition to sharing resources, infrastructure, and expertise, the partnership has led to some exciting artistic initiatives. A joint chamber music program (CMI: Chamber Music Institute) partners SPCO musicians as coaches and performing members with student members of GTCYS chamber ensembles. In April 2013, SPCO helped produce a free GTCYS Family Concert at the Ordway and will do so again on April 26, 2014.
Special ticket offers and cross-promotion provide additional visibility for both organizations, while promoting the value of classical music and building audiences in our community. Working together, these collaborative activities create more educational benefits for students and enriching experiences for audiences. Both the SPCO and GTCYS look forward to continuing the advancement of this partnership in the future.
