The festival will cover a wide range of chamber orchestra repertoire, from Baroque gems by Bach and Handel, through masterworks of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, to the leading voices of our own time. Of special note is the U.S. premiere of Heiner Goebbels’ Songs of Wars I Have Seen, which incorporates texts by Gertrude Stein. The performance will be given by the same forces who gave the piece its acclaimed world premiere.
This is a moment like no other in the SPCO’s 50-year history: a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of five leaders of the chamber orchestra world. |
