Four of the world’s preeminent chamber orchestras join the SPCO for the International Chamber Orchestra Festival, which takes place over four weeks in January right here in the Twin Cities. The festival features the unparalleled artistry of the strings of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the cutting-edge contemporary style of the London Sinfonietta, the captivating period-instrument refinement of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and the vigor and dynamism of America’s own Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.
Together we will take an in-depth look at what it means to be a chamber orchestra in the 21st century, and why the institution is as vital today as it was five decades ago. Under the leadership of SPCO Artistic Partners Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Douglas Boyd and Nicholas McGegan, the festival will spotlight a stellar roster of international guest artists as well as the SPCO’s own Steven Copes and Ruggero Allifranchini. more>>> |
